Roh Tae-moon, president and CEO of Samsung Mobile Experience (MX) division, gave his engineers a new task: to develop a phone that is only 7.7mm thick when folded. This means the new Galaxy Z Fold6 Slim model will be the same thickness as the current Galaxy S24. So is this possible?
7.7mm thick Galaxy Z Fold6 Slim from Samsung
In addition to reducing the thickness of this new model, Samsung aims to reduce its weight below 239 grams. The idea of a light and thin foldable phone sounds good for now. The Galaxy Z Fold6, which is currently on the market, is 12.1mm thick when folded and 5.6mm thick when open.
Additionally, it weighs 239 grams. The improvements made in this new model seem to make the device much more portable and useful. It is certain that Samsung will attract attention with its thin and light structure, especially when compared to competitors such as Xiaomi MIX Fold 4 and Honor Magic V3.
Samsung’s goal is to launch this super thin and light device by the end of the year. This model is expected to be released under the name Galaxy Z Fold6 Slim. It was also announced that Samsung has also developed the Galaxy Z Fold6 Ultra/Slim models and that they will be available for sale in the Chinese and Korean markets.
This move by Samsung seems to set a new standard in foldable phone technology. A thin, light and stylish device will provide a great advantage in terms of both ease of use and aesthetics.
So what do you think? What impact does Samsung’s super thin and light foldable phone make on the market? Would you consider buying this phone? Don’t forget to share your opinions with us in the comments section below.
